You installed Chargeflow, or you are about to. Then you saw the line that matters: 25% of every chargeback it recovers. Your last good month had $450 in wins, and the maths on the back of an envelope says that is $112.50 gone, every month, for as long as you sell. It might be fair. It might also be more than you need to pay. You want to know what else is out there before you commit.
The best Chargeflow alternative depends on why you are looking. If the fee is the problem, a flat monthly plan or a lower success fee costs less. If you want a human to handle cases, one hybrid plan includes expert review. If you need many payment processors or fraud prevention as well as recovery, Chargeflow itself is hard to beat, and you may be better off staying. This guide compares eight options with real prices so you can choose with your own numbers.
This guide is for you if:
- You run a Shopify store, you have seen Chargeflow's pricing, and you want to compare it with other tools before you install anything.
- You already use Chargeflow and the success fee is starting to feel large.
- You want an honest answer on who should switch and who should stay.

A note on bias before we start: we make ChargeFix, one of the alternatives below. We have tried to give every option, including Chargeflow, its fair due. Every price and review count comes from a listing or pricing page we read on 30 October 2026, and prices change.
The 30-second answer (TL;DR)
- Chargeflow takes 25% of each recovered chargeback for its automation product. Alerts cost $29 per deflected chargeback, and its prevention product charges $0.10 per scanned transaction after the first 1,000.
- Cheaper success fees exist: ChargebackWiz lists 18% and Paidback lists 15% capped at $250 per dispute.
- Flat monthly plans exist too: DisputeDesk from $29, ChargePay from $19.99 and ChargeFix from $19, with free tiers on two of them.
- One hybrid plan, from Chargeback Dispute Specialist, adds human review at a small subscription plus a smaller percentage.
- Chargeflow reads more payment processors and has far more reviews than any alternative, with 433 on its listing.
- If you only take payments through Shopify Payments and have a handful of disputes a month, a flat plan or a lower fee usually costs less. If you use several processors or want prevention, Chargeflow earns its price.
Quick note: No app can promise you a win. The bank decides and the decision is final. When you compare tools, compare fees, supported processors, reviews and how honest each page is, not win-rate claims.

What does Chargeflow do well?
A fair look at any Chargeflow alternative begins with what the original gets right.
It does more than recovery. Chargeflow sells three separate products on one pricing page: Automation for fighting chargebacks, Alerts for stopping disputes before they land, and Prevent for screening orders. It also offers a free analytics product called Insights. If you want one vendor for the whole job, that breadth is rare.
It reads many processors. The Shopify listing names Stripe, PayPal, Braintree and buy-now-pay-later providers such as Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay under "works with." For a store that takes payments through several gateways, that matters a lot.
It has the track record. The listing shows 4.5 stars from 433 reviews, with 394 five-star ratings. No alternative in this guide comes close to that volume of public feedback.
It makes performance promises. The pricing page advertises a 4x ROI guarantee on Automation and a 100% Alerts Guarantee. We have not read the guarantee terms, so check them before you rely on them. The page also says there is no contract or minimum commitment and that eligible startups can get up to 70% off through accelerator programs.
It is built for scale. The listing cites SOC 2 and GDPR compliance, which large merchants and their finance teams ask for.
If those strengths describe your needs, stop reading and install it. The rest of this guide is for stores whose needs are narrower.
Why do merchants look for a Chargeflow alternative?
Four reasons come up again and again.
The percentage is large. At 25%, a recovered $100 dispute costs $25. For a store recovering a few hundred dollars a month, that is $75 to $150. For one recovering a few thousand, it is hundreds. Our guide on flat fee vs percentage chargeback apps walks through where the break-even sits.
The bill has several meters. Automation takes 25%. Alerts add $29 for each dispute they deflect. Prevent adds a scan fee. You may need only one of those, but the pricing page asks you to understand all three. The page also does not say whether the 1,000 free scans are a monthly or a one-time allowance, so ask before you rely on them.
The dispute fee is separate. The pricing page says the 25% excludes the dispute fee. That is a fair way to describe it, but it means your total cost includes Shopify's $15 fee on disputes you lose.
You only use one thing. A Shopify Payments store with a few chargebacks a month may not need multi-processor support, order scanning or alerts. Paying for a platform to get a single feature is where many merchants start shopping around.
None of these makes Chargeflow a bad choice. They make it a choice that fits some stores better than others.
What does Chargeflow cost next to the alternatives?
Here is one month for a store that recovers $450 in disputes, which is five wins averaging $90. Each percentage applies to the disputed amount you win back, and the flat prices are the entry plan that covers this volume.
| Option | Model | Cost for the month |
|---|---|---|
| Chargeflow Automation | 25% of recovered | $112.50 |
| Disputifier | 20% of recovered, per Redo | $90.00 |
| ChargebackWiz | 18% of recovered | $81.00 |
| Paidback | 15% of recovered | $67.50 |
| Chargeback Dispute Specialist (Expert) | $29.99 plus 10% | $74.99 |
| DisputeDesk Starter | Flat, 20 packs | $29.00 |
| ChargePay Basic | Flat, Shopify Basic plan | $19.99 |
| ChargeFix Starter | Flat, 25 filings | $19.00 |
These are assumptions for illustration, not a quote. If your wins are rare, the percentage options fall and the flat plans do not. If your orders are large, the capped options help. Run your own numbers with our chargeback recovery calculator.
ChargePay's plans are tied to your Shopify plan, so $19.99 applies only if you are on Shopify Basic. On the Grow plan it is $39.99. Alert fees on ChargePay, at $29 per Ethoca alert and $19 per RDR or CDRN alert, are extra.
Option 1: ChargebackWiz
Model: 18% of recovered chargebacks, $0 a month, unlimited disputes, cancel anytime.
What it does: It assembles evidence matched to the dispute reason, gives each dispute a Win Score, automatically refunds cases it rates weak so you can avoid the fee, and can file in auto-pilot or after one-click approval. Deadline reminders go out 5, 2 and 1 days before the due date.
Reads: Shopify Payments only, according to its own site, with other gateways described as coming soon.
Reviews: 5.0 from a single review on the Shopify listing.
Best for: A Shopify Payments store that wants a lower success fee than 25% and no monthly cost.
Watch out for: The listing says it requests access to order history for the last 60 days. The site's statistics blocks show placeholder values, so ignore them. It says plainly that no tool can guarantee wins, which is a good sign.
Option 2: Paidback
Model: 15% of recovered, capped at $250 per dispute, charged only when a dispute is won.
What it does: Collects evidence from order, tracking and fraud data, generates responses by reason code, filters weak evidence and flags what is missing.
Reads: Shopify Payments disputes. The listing says Stripe and PayPal support is coming soon.
Reviews: None yet.
Best for: Higher-priced orders, because the cap limits the fee on a big win.
Watch out for: No reviews and no trial listed. It is a newer app, and a lack of track record is the trade for a lower fee.
Option 3: Disputifier
Model: A share of recovered revenue plus per-alert fees, with a 7-day trial listed. Redo's July 2026 comparison reports 20% of recovered revenue, capped at $250 per won case.
What it does: Fully automated AI chargeback fighting, alerts to block chargebacks before they land, automated fraud protection, and shipping notifications to head off item not received disputes.
Reads: Afterpay, Authorize.net, Klarna, PayPal, Recharge and Stripe.
Reviews: 4.7 from 134, the next largest base after Chargeflow.
Best for: Merchants who want a mature option with a lower percentage than Chargeflow and a cap on big cases.
Watch out for: The listing says additional charges may apply, and the rate on the listing page is described rather than stated, so confirm the exact figure on its pricing page.
Option 4: Chargeback Dispute Specialist
Model: Four plans: Auto at $4.99 a month plus 15% of disputes won, Pro at $14.99 plus 13%, Expert at $29.99 plus 10%, and VIP at a flat $499 with no revenue share. Every plan has a 14-day trial.
What it does: Automated rebuttals on the cheapest plan, an AI evidence builder and manual evidence pull on Pro, human experts reviewing every case and a dedicated account manager on Expert, and a fully managed service on VIP.
Reads: Stripe, PayPal, Verifi, Ethoca and RDR, with chargeback prevention listed.
Reviews: 5.0 from 19.
Best for: A store that wants a person to look at every case without hiring one.
Watch out for: The VIP plan only beats the percentage tiers when you recover roughly $4,700 or more a month. Below that, one of the lower tiers costs less.
Option 5: DisputeDesk
Model: Flat tiers by evidence packs. Free gives 5 packs a month, Starter is $29 for 20, Growth is $129 for 100 and Scale is $299 for 400. Top-ups cost $19 for 10, $79 for 50 and $249 for 200. The listing states there is no success fee.
What it does: Detects new chargebacks, builds structured evidence, runs hands-off or pauses selected cases for review, and saves packs to the Shopify admin.
Reads: Checkout, Shopify Admin, Affirm, Gorgias, Klarna, Afterpay, PayPal, Shop Pay and Stripe.
Reviews: None yet.
Best for: A store that wants a flat price with a clear quota and the option to start free.
Watch out for: It is new and unreviewed. Quotas bind in busy months, and top-ups add up. The listing also mentions a founder offer for the first 21 stores.
Option 6: ChargePay
Model: Four flat plans from $19.99 to $99.99 a month, each matched to a Shopify plan, with a 7-day trial. The listing describes it as flat pricing with no success fees.
What it does: Fully automated chargeback recovery, AI evidence matched to reason codes, fraud screening, alerts, order validation and an analytics dashboard. Unlimited chargebacks on every plan.
Reads: The listing says Shopify Payments, Stripe and PayPal, with a longer list of integrations.
Reviews: 4.5 from 27.
Best for: A store that wants unlimited disputes under a flat fee and does not mind the price following its Shopify plan.
Watch out for: Because the price rises with your Shopify plan, an upgrade of your store also upgrades this bill. Alerts cost extra.
Option 7: Redo Reclaim
Model: According to Redo, it costs the merchant nothing: no install fee, no success fee, and you keep all the recovered funds. Redo funds it.
What it does: Representment of chargebacks, within Redo's larger set of chargeback products, which also include paid alerts and resolve tools.
Best for: A store that wants zero cost and is comfortable with a vendor-funded model.
Watch out for: The claim comes from Redo's own articles, so read Redo's terms before you rely on it. Ask what the vendor gets in return, such as a path to its paid products, and decide whether that suits you.
Option 8: ChargeFix
Model: Flat tiers. A free plan with 2 filings a month, Starter at $19 for 25, Growth at $49 for 100 and Scale at $99 for unlimited. Yearly plans are listed as 2 months free, and paid plans have a 14-day trial. There is never a cut of what you win.
What it does: For each Shopify Payments chargeback it gathers order, payment, address, tracking and delivery records, scores the evidence item by item, gives a "worth fighting?" verdict and drafts a letter from your real records. Claims your records cannot support are left out. Manual mode is the default and nothing goes to the bank until you say so. Auto mode on paid plans files only the dispute types you pick when your rules are met.
Reads: Shopify Payments only.
Reviews: ChargeFix is new and has no App Store reviews yet, so there is no public track record to show.
Best for: A Shopify Payments store with a few to a few dozen disputes a month that wants a predictable bill and a tool that tells it honestly when a case is weak.
Watch out for: It does not read other processors, prevent disputes or promise wins. A flat plan costs you in a month with no wins, which is why the free plan exists.
Illustration: three stores, three different answers
The best Chargeflow alternative is different for different stores. Here are three, with assumed figures and the arithmetic shown.
Store A: a young store with 4 disputes a month. Average disputed order is $55 and the tool wins 2. Recovered: $110.
| Option | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Chargeflow at 25% | $27.50 |
| ChargebackWiz at 18% | $19.80 |
| Paidback at 15% | $16.50 |
| ChargeFix Starter, flat | $19.00 |
At this size the differences are a few dollars. Pick on trust, ease and processor support. If you drop to 2 disputes a month, a free tier costs nothing.
Store B: a steady store with 12 disputes a month. Average disputed order is $110 and the tool wins 6. Recovered: $660.
| Option | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Chargeflow at 25% | $165.00 |
| Disputifier at 20%, per Redo | $132.00 |
| ChargebackWiz at 18% | $118.80 |
| Paidback at 15% | $99.00 |
| Chargeback Dispute Specialist, Expert ($29.99 + 10%) | $95.99 |
| ChargeFix Starter, flat | $19.00 |
The gap between the highest and lowest is $146 a month, or $1,752 a year, for the same six wins. This is the store profile where a flat monthly fee earns its keep.
Store C: a busier store with three processors and 40 disputes a month. Average disputed order is $150 and the tool wins 24. Recovered: $3,600. This store takes cards through Stripe, PayPal and Braintree.
| Option | Reads all three? | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Chargeflow at 25% | Yes | $900 |
| Disputifier at 20% | Stripe and PayPal listed, not Braintree | $720 |
| ChargePay, flat | Stripe, PayPal and Braintree listed | $39.99 to $99.99, by Shopify plan |
| ChargebackWiz, Paidback, ChargeFix | Shopify Payments only | Not an option |
For Store C, three of the cheaper tools are out immediately because they cannot see its disputes. The real choice is between Chargeflow and the few that read all three processors, and the price gap is still large. This is why you check processor support before price.
How does each option treat a weak case?
How a tool handles a case you probably cannot win matters as much as how it handles one you can. A weak case that loses costs you the disputed amount, the fee and your time. A tool that tells you early saves all three.
The approaches differ.
- Win Score and auto-refund. ChargebackWiz gives each dispute a score and refunds cases it rates weak so you can avoid the fee. That saves the fee but ends any chance of winning. It is worth asking how the score is calculated and whether you can override it.
- A "worth fighting?" verdict. ChargeFix scores the evidence item by item, flags the gaps and gives a plain verdict. You decide. The letter uses only what is in your records, so a case with no tracking reads as the weak case it is, instead of being dressed up.
- Human review. Chargeback Dispute Specialist's Expert and VIP tiers put a person on each case. That costs more, and it may suit disputes that need judgment.
- Fully automated filing. Chargeflow, Disputifier and ChargePay advertise automated recovery. Ask what the tool does when evidence is missing: does it file anyway, hold the case, or tell you?
There is no single right answer. But a tool that files every case regardless of strength turns every fee into a cost, especially under a percentage model, where the vendor only earns on wins. Ask the question before you install.
How do Chargeflow's fees add up for a larger store?
Single meters look small. Several together do not. Redo's pricing article builds an illustrative store with 20,000 orders, 120 disputes, $10,000 recovered and 40 deflected chargebacks, and adds up the bill: Prevent scans at $0.20 each for 19,000 billable scans ($3,800), alerts at $29 for 40 deflections ($1,160) and automation at 25% of $10,000 ($2,500), for $7,460 in total.
Two cautions about that example. Redo sells a competing product and says so. And its scan price is $0.20, whereas Chargeflow's current pricing page and Shopify listing show $0.10 per scan after the first 1,000, which would change the scan line. We therefore treat the total as an illustration of how several meters stack, not as a quote. The lesson stands regardless: if you use more than one Chargeflow product, add up every line, with your own volumes, before you compare.
If you only need recovery, a flat monthly fee keeps the arithmetic to one line.
Which processors does each option read?
This table matters more than price for many stores. If an app does not read your processor, nothing else about it matters.
| App | Shopify Payments | Stripe | PayPal | Others listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chargeflow | Via Shopify | Yes | Yes | Braintree, Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay |
| ChargebackWiz | Yes | Not yet | Not yet | None |
| Paidback | Yes | Coming | Coming | None |
| Disputifier | Via Shopify | Yes | Yes | Authorize.net, Klarna, Afterpay, Recharge |
| Chargeback Dispute Specialist | Via Shopify | Yes | Yes | Verifi, Ethoca, RDR |
| DisputeDesk | Yes | Yes | Yes | Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, Shop Pay |
| ChargePay | Yes | Yes | Yes | Braintree, Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay |
| ChargeFix | Yes | No | No | None |
"Via Shopify" means the listing does not name Shopify Payments directly, but the app installs through Shopify and reads Shopify disputes. Confirm with the vendor that your specific setup is supported. Redo's comparison makes the same point: Shopify Payments, PayPal and third-party gateways expose dispute data differently, so an app may not see disputes from every gateway.
Who should stay with Chargeflow?
Stay if any of these describe you.
- You take payments through several processors, and you need one tool to cover them.
- You want alerts and order scanning as well as recovery, from one vendor.
- Your finance or legal team requires SOC 2 and a large vendor with a track record.
- Your volume is high enough that you value the ROI guarantee and the support, and you have read the guarantee terms.
- You qualify for the startup discount and the economics work.
Switching to save a percentage point is rarely worth the effort. Switching because your needs are narrower than the platform you are paying for can be.
Who should switch to a flat plan?
Switch, or start on a flat plan, if these fit.
- You process through Shopify Payments only.
- You see between three and a few dozen disputes a month.
- You want to know next month's bill today.
- You want the tool to be honest when a case is weak, so you do not fight it.
- Your recoveries are over about $80 a month, which is where a $19 plan beats a 25% fee.
How do you switch Chargeflow alternatives without missing a deadline?
Changing tools mid-month is where disputes get lost. A careful switch looks like this.
- List every open dispute and its due date. Do not move any case that is due within a few days.
- Let the old tool finish what it has started. Do not uninstall while a response is being prepared.
- Install the new tool and run it in Manual mode first. Check what it drafts before it sends anything.
- Avoid two tools on the same dispute. Pick one owner per case so evidence is not submitted twice. Remember you get only one submission.
- Run one alert provider at a time. Redo's comparison warns against running multiple alert services together, since each charges per prevented dispute.
- Export what you need. Save your win and loss history from the old tool for comparison.
- Review permissions. Several apps ask for access to order history, for example the last 60 days. Make sure you are comfortable with what each one reads.
Our dispute deadline countdown is a simple way to keep every open date in view while you switch.
Questions to ask any Chargeflow alternative before you install
- What is the fee calculated on, and does it include Shopify's returned dispute fee?
- Is there a cap per case, and does it apply to partial wins?
- Which processors does it read, and does my store qualify?
- What else is billed: alerts, scans, add-ons or top-ups?
- How is usage counted against a plan quota?
- What happens when the free trial ends?
- What does it do with a case it rates as weak?
- Where can I read reviews, and how many are there?
If a vendor cannot answer in a sentence, treat that as an answer.
Common mistakes when comparing
Choosing on percentage alone. A lower rate on a larger recovery can still cost more than a flat fee. Compare dollars, not rates.
Ignoring processor support. A cheap tool that cannot see your disputes saves nothing.
Treating reviews as a verdict. A single five-star review is not a track record, and 433 reviews of any rating tell you something a single review cannot.
Trusting win-rate claims. They are not measured the same way across vendors, so you cannot compare them.
Switching in the middle of a busy month. Wait until your open disputes are filed.
Expecting any tool to lower your ratio. Filing evidence recovers money. It does not remove disputes from the count that card networks watch, so prevention still matters. Our guide to Shopify Protect vs a chargeback app explains where each fits.
What we checked, and what you should check
We read the Chargeflow pricing page and each Shopify App Store listing named above on 30 October 2026, and we read ChargebackWiz's own site and Redo's comparison articles for the figures they publish. Before you decide, confirm these yourself.
- Current prices on each vendor's own page.
- The terms behind any guarantee you plan to rely on.
- Whether your store qualifies, since several listings restrict compatibility.
- Your own recovery figures, taken from your last three months.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Chargeflow alternative for Shopify?
It depends on your needs. For a lower success fee, ChargebackWiz lists 18% and Paidback lists 15% with a $250 cap. For predictable flat pricing, DisputeDesk, ChargePay and ChargeFix offer monthly plans. For human review, Chargeback Dispute Specialist's higher tiers include it. Chargeflow itself fits stores needing many processors.
How much does Chargeflow cost?
Its pricing page lists Automation at 25% of each recovered chargeback, Alerts at $29 per deflected chargeback, and Prevent at $0.10 per scanned transaction after the first 1,000. Insights is free, and enterprise pricing is custom. The page says there is no contract or minimum and excludes the dispute fee from the 25%.
Is there a free Chargeflow alternative?
Some tools have free tiers. DisputeDesk offers 5 evidence packs a month on its free plan, and ChargeFix offers 2 filings a month. ChargebackWiz charges no monthly fee but takes 18% of recoveries. Redo says its recovery product costs merchants nothing, so read Redo's terms before relying on that.
Is Chargeflow worth 25%?
For some stores, yes. If you use multiple processors, want prevention and alerts, and value its scale and guarantee, 25% may be fair. For a Shopify Payments store with modest recoveries, a flat plan or a lower rate usually costs less. Compare dollars at your own volume before deciding.
Which Chargeflow alternative has the most reviews?
Disputifier, with 4.7 stars from 134 reviews on its Shopify listing, is the next largest after Chargeflow's 433. ChargePay has 27, Chargeback Dispute Specialist 19 and ChargebackWiz 1. Paidback and DisputeDesk had none when we checked. Reviews are a useful signal of track record, but not a guarantee.
Do these alternatives work with Shopify Payments?
Most do. ChargebackWiz, Paidback, DisputeDesk, ChargePay and ChargeFix list Shopify Payments disputes as supported or monitored. Others work through Shopify and read Stripe and PayPal disputes. Always confirm with the vendor that your payment setup is supported before installing, because dispute data differs by gateway.
Can I use two chargeback apps at once?
You can install more than one, but avoid having two tools work the same dispute. Shopify allows a single evidence submission, so a second submission cannot add to the first. Redo also warns against running multiple alert services together, since each charges per prevented dispute. Give each case one owner.
How do I switch chargeback apps safely?
List every open dispute and its due date, let the current tool finish anything in progress, and install the new one in Manual mode first. Keep one owner per case, export your history, and check what permissions the new app asks for. Do not switch just before a busy period.
Will a Chargeflow alternative lower my chargeback rate?
Recovery tools do not. Winning a dispute returns money but does not remove the dispute from the monitoring count. Lowering your rate takes fewer disputes, through clear billing descriptors, accurate delivery promises, fast refunds and good order emails. Alerts and prevention products work at an earlier stage and are a separate decision.
