A store in Kelowna ships a backpack to a customer in Ohio. Eleven days later, the customer's bank opens a dispute: "item not received." Your tracking page shows the parcel crossed the border, then goes quiet. The response window is shorter than the transit time you promised. Cross-border chargebacks in Canada follow the same Shopify rules as domestic ones, but almost everything around them is harder to prove, and a few things you may be counting on do not apply to you.
Quick answer: Cross-border chargebacks in Canada on Shopify Payments run through the same reasons, the same 7 to 21 day response window and the same C$15 or US$15 fee (by payout currency) as any other dispute. What changes is the evidence: delivery proof has to cover the whole route, your checkout has to state who pays duties and taxes, and you cannot assume Shopify Protect applies, because it is for US stores. If you use Managed Markets, confirm in your own admin how protection applies to your Canadian store.
This guide is for you if:
- You are a Canadian merchant on Shopify Payments who ships to US customers.
- You use, or are considering, Managed Markets and want to know what it does for disputes.
- You want an evidence routine built for orders that cross the border.

Disclosure: ChargeFix publishes this guide and sells an app for Shopify Payments disputes. Shopify details come from Shopify's Help Center and Shopify's Canadian Managed Markets page. This guide does not cover customs rules, US state sales tax, exchange rate handling on disputes or carrier specifics for US delivery, because we did not verify them. Confirm those with your carrier and an accountant.
TL;DR
- The dispute process is the same as for domestic orders: contact the customer, then submit evidence before the due date.
- Delivery proof has to run from your fulfillment to the destination, with a tracking number and records you can attach as PDF, JPEG or PNG.
- Shopify Protect is for US stores only, and Shopify says it "does not constitute insurance."
- Shopify's own pages differ on how Managed Markets protection applies to a Canadian store. Check your admin.
- The fee is C$15 or US$15, set by your payout currency, charged at filing and returned only on a win.
Do this today
- Pull your last 20 US orders and note which have a saved delivery record.
- Check how your checkout explains duties, taxes and delivery times.
- Open your Shopify admin and look at which orders Managed Markets handles, if you use it.
- Write down your payout currency and the fee it implies.
- Set a rule for saving delivery proof for every US order on the day it arrives.
Cross-border chargebacks in Canada: the process in one table
| Step | What you do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Read the dispute | Reason, amount, due date | The window is 7 to 21 days, no extensions |
| 2. Check the route | Origin, carrier, destination, tracking number | Cross-border orders have more places to lose a record |
| 3. Contact the customer | Ask what happened | Many agree to withdraw |
| 4. Gather delivery proof | Carrier records for the whole trip | Direct proof ranks first with Shopify |
| 5. Add checkout evidence | Delivery times, duties and tax wording | Shows what the buyer agreed to |
| 6. Cost the case | Amount plus fee in payout currency | The fee is lost on a defeat |
| 7. File | Before the due date | The card company decides, usually within 75 days |
What counts as a cross-border chargeback for a Canadian store?
A cross-border chargeback is an ordinary card dispute on an order that crosses the border: you are in Canada, the buyer is in the United States (or elsewhere), and the buyer's bank opens the dispute. Shopify does not give these a separate category. They fall under the same reasons: fraudulent, unrecognized, product not received, product unacceptable, subscription canceled, duplicate, credit not processed and general.
| Reason | What it looks like on a US order |
|---|---|
| Product not received | Parcel in transit across the border or held somewhere |
| Fraudulent or unrecognized | Cardholder does not recognize a Canadian merchant name |
| Product unacceptable | Item arrived damaged after a long trip, or not as described |
| Credit not processed | Return shipped across the border, refund slow |
| General | Anything that does not fit above |
The reasons are familiar. The trouble with cross-border chargebacks is that each one has more moving parts when the parcel, the card and the customer are in different countries.
Why do cross-border orders cause more trouble?
This section is reasoning, not data. We found no Canadian cross-border dispute figure in the sources we reviewed, so do not read these as measured rates.
| Factor | Why it can raise dispute risk |
|---|---|
| Longer transit | More days for the customer to worry and file |
| More handoffs | More places for a tracking record to go quiet |
| Unfamiliar merchant name | A Canadian descriptor may not ring a bell with a US cardholder |
| Duties and taxes | A surprise charge at the door invites a dispute |
| Returns | Sending an item back across the border is slow and costly |
| Distance from support | Time zone gaps delay replies |
Each of these is something you can reduce with clear checkout wording, early shipping updates and a record routine, and each one feeds the cross-border chargebacks you see later. Measure your own US orders against your domestic orders, and let your own history guide you.
Do Shopify's evidence rules change for cross-border chargebacks in Canada?
No. Shopify's guidance for cross-border chargebacks is the same as for any Shopify Payments dispute. Contact the customer first in every category. If the customer agrees, they ask their bank to drop it, and you still submit evidence.
| Reason | What Shopify asks for | Cross-border addition |
|---|---|---|
| Product not received | Proof of delivery, fulfillment date and time, billing information, shipping and tracking | Records for the full route |
| Fraudulent | Fulfillment date and time, billing information, IP address and country, shipping and tracking | Show the IP country and the shipping country |
| Unrecognized | Same as Fraudulent | Explain your merchant name |
| Product unacceptable | Product descriptions or pictures, proof no return was tried or a replacement sent | Return and replacement options for a US buyer |
| Credit not processed | Proof of refund, refund and return policies | Show refund timing |
| Subscription canceled | Cancellation policy, notices, activity log | Same as domestic |
Files must be PDF, JPEG or PNG, up to 2 MB each and 4 MB combined, with one file per evidence type and no links, audio or video. Shopify ranks evidence as direct proof, customer acknowledgment, policy documentation and supporting context.
How do you prove delivery in cross-border chargebacks from Canada?
For product not received, the evidence is the full path from your door to theirs. The goal is a record that a reviewer can follow without guessing.
| Leg | Record to keep |
|---|---|
| Fulfillment | Date and time in Shopify, tracking number |
| Origin carrier | Tracking history with scan dates |
| Handoff | Any scan showing the parcel moved between carriers |
| Final delivery | Delivered scan, address and signature if used |
| Customer contact | Messages about the delivery |
If you ship with Canada Post, its delivery confirmation is a PDF in Track, reached through Delivery details, and it needs the destination postal code. Canada Post says it is available online for 45 days after delivery. Cross-border parcels are often tracked by more than one carrier, so check what your carrier's tracking page shows for the final leg. This guide does not describe US carrier records, because we did not verify them.
Cross-border delivery proof sheet
Order #: ______ Destination country: ______
Carrier(s): ______ Tracking number: ______
Fulfilled: ______ (date and time)
Border / handoff scan: ______
Delivered scan: ______ Address matches order? [ ]
Signature (if used): ______

Customer messages: ______
Gaps in the record: ______
Save the delivery record the day it arrives, since a dispute may come weeks later. If the record has a gap you cannot explain, contact the carrier early.
What is Managed Markets and what does it do for cross-border chargebacks?
Managed Markets is a Shopify program for selling internationally. According to Shopify's Canadian page, it is open to merchants based in the US, Canada or the UK with Shopify Payments active, customers pay duties and taxes at checkout, and the merchant of record handles remittance. Shopify's Help Center says stores in Canada or the UK sign a self-billing agreement, and that prepaid duties shipping in Canada runs through DHL Express and FedEx.
| Managed Markets point | Source |
|---|---|
| Open to merchants in US, Canada or UK | Shopify's Canada page |
| Shopify Payments must be active | Shopify's Canada page |
| Customers pay duties and taxes at checkout | Shopify's Canada page |
| Merchant of record remits duties and taxes | Shopify's Canada page |
| Self-billing agreement for Canada and UK stores | Shopify Help Center |
| Prepaid duties shipping in Canada via DHL Express and FedEx | Shopify Help Center |
The part that matters for disputes is where Shopify's two pages disagree. The Canadian marketing page says merchants are "automatically enrolled in Shopify Protect, which covers eligible chargebacks on international orders" and "you keep the full payout." The Help Center setup page says "All your international orders are protected from fraud chargebacks with Shopify Protect (United States only)."
Those statements do not line up for a Canadian store, and the Help Center page also names Global-e as merchant of record. We cannot resolve the conflict from outside your account. Shopify's pages differ on how this protection applies to a Canadian store, so confirm eligibility in your own admin before relying on it, and check which orders Managed Markets handles. Do not budget as if the protection is certain.
What does Shopify Protect cover, and what does it not?
Shopify Protect is limited. Based on Shopify's terms as summarised by Chargeflow (a vendor), it is free, applies only to fraudulent and unrecognized reason codes, and covers eligible Shop Pay orders from a US store with a US Shopify Payments account and a US bank. It has tracking and in-transit requirements: tracking within 7 days and in transit within 10. It excludes digital products, local pickup and repeat subscription billing. Shopify says Protect "does not constitute insurance" and may stop at any time. Protected chargebacks still count toward Visa's ratio.
| Protect point | What it means for a Canadian store |
|---|---|
| US store only | Your Canadian store is outside the standard program |
| Fraud and unrecognized only | Not received and not as described are not covered |
| Eligible Shop Pay orders | Other orders are outside it |
| Tracking within 7 days, in transit within 10 | You must ship fast |
| Not insurance | It can change |
| Counts toward Visa ratio | It does not clean your numbers |
Treat Protect as a bonus you check, never as a plan for cross-border chargebacks. A Canadian store that sells to the US should assume it is on its own for every reason code, and build the evidence routine accordingly.
How much do cross-border chargebacks cost a Canadian store?
The fee is the same as any Shopify Payments chargeback. Shopify charges C$15 or US$15, depending on your payout currency, when the dispute is filed, and returns it only if you win. An inquiry takes no money.
| Cost | What it is |
|---|---|
| Amount | The disputed sale value, taken back |
| Fee | C$15 or US$15, matching your payouts |
| Shipping | Often already spent, and rarely recovered |
| Product | Usually not returned |
| Time | Your hours collecting records |
Because cross-border orders often carry higher shipping, the real loss on a defeat is bigger than the sale price. Count it.
Cross-border cost sheet (fill in, in your payout currency)
Sale amount = A
Shipping you paid = Sh
Product cost = P
Fee (C$15 or US$15) = F
Your time = T
Honest chance of winning = c
Refund now: loss = P + Sh (you keep nothing, but no fee)
Fight and lose: loss = A + F + T (and product and shipping are gone)
Fight and win: loss = T
Fight when (1 - c) x (A + F) + T < A
This guide does not cover how exchange rates affect a dispute amount, since we did not verify that. Cost each cross-border dispute in the currency of your payout and keep the sheet.
How should your checkout prevent cross-border chargebacks with US buyers?
Evidence that the buyer was told what to expect carries weight, and it prevents surprise. Under Managed Markets, per Shopify, buyers are charged duties and taxes during checkout. If you do not use it, your checkout needs to say what the buyer might owe on delivery. This guide does not state customs or tax rules, so write wording that points the buyer to the right source rather than giving figures.
| Checkout element | What to state |
|---|---|
| Delivery time | A range that matches your carrier's service |
| Who ships and from where | A Canadian store shipping to the US |
| Duties and taxes | Who pays, and when |
| Returns | Where to ship a return, who pays |
| Contact | How to reach you and when you reply |
| Merchant name | The name that appears on a statement |
Sample cross-border checkout wording (adapt to your store)
Ships from Canada. Estimated delivery to the United States:
[X to Y] business days after dispatch.
Duties and taxes: [shown and paid at checkout / may be due on delivery,
payable by the buyer]. Check [link to your policy] for details.
Returns: ship returns to [address] within [number] days. [Who pays return
shipping.] Refunds are issued within [number] days of receipt.
Your card statement will show: [descriptor].
Take a dated screenshot of this wording on the checkout page and save it. If a dispute comes, that image is policy documentation and shows when and where the buyer saw the terms.
How do you handle returns in cross-border chargebacks?
Cross-border returns are slow, and a customer who has returned a parcel may dispute before the refund lands. Credit not processed is the reason to watch.
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Customer returns the item | Record the return tracking number and refund the day it lands |
| Customer refuses delivery | Treat it as a return, record the carrier's refusal scan |
| Parcel returned to you | Refund or reship, and tell the customer |
| Refund partially issued | Note the amount and date |
Shopify's guidance for credit not processed is to submit proof of refund before the chargeback. It also notes that you cannot refund once a chargeback has begun, but you can on an inquiry. A full refund on an inquiry blocks a chargeback, and a partial refund does not. So if a US customer raises an inquiry on a returned item, refund quickly.
What does the evidence pack for a cross-border dispute look like?
Build one pack per order type, and fill it from the records above.
| File | Evidence | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Carrier delivery record for the whole route | Direct proof |
| 2 | Signature record, if used | Direct proof |
| 3 | Fulfillment and billing details | Supporting context |
| 4 | Checkout capture showing delivery times and duties wording | Policy documentation |
| 5 | Customer messages | Acknowledgment |
| 6 | Return and refund records, if relevant | Supporting context |
Response to a cross-border not-received dispute (adapt)
Order #[number], C$[amount], shipped from Canada on [date],
tracking number [number], destination [city, state].
Summary
The carrier's records show the parcel delivered on [date] to the address
on the order. The customer was shown estimated delivery times and
duties and tax terms at checkout.
1. Carrier delivery record (file 1)
2. Signature record, if any (file 2)
3. Fulfillment and billing details (file 3)
4. Checkout capture with delivery and duties wording (file 4)
5. Customer messages (file 5)
Keep every cross-border dispute response to the facts you can attach. A cross-border story with gaps filled by guesses loses credibility.
What does the life of a cross-border order look like, and where do disputes start?
The timeline below is illustrative, with invented day counts, to show where a record is created or lost. Replace the days with your own carrier's numbers.
| Stage | Example timing | Record created | Dispute risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Checkout | Day 0 | Terms shown, order confirmation | Surprise at the door if duties wording is vague |
| Fulfillment | Day 1 | Fulfillment date and time, tracking number | Late dispatch invites worry |
| Crossing the border | Days 2 to 5 | Carrier scans | Quiet tracking, customer contacts you or their bank |
| Final delivery | Days 6 to 9 | Delivered scan, signature if used | "Not received" claims |
| After delivery | Days 10 to 40 | Customer messages | Damage or fit complaints, returns |
| Dispute notice | Often weeks later | Shopify notice, due date | 7 to 21 day window starts |
Notice that the record you need at the end is created at the start, which is why cross-border disputes are won in the shipping room. Cross-border chargebacks are mostly decided by what you saved at fulfillment and delivery. The dispute notice only tells you how much time you have left.
Cross-border order checklist (tick as the order moves)
At checkout: [ ] delivery range shown [ ] duties wording shown
[ ] return terms shown [ ] descriptor shown
At fulfillment: [ ] tracking number saved [ ] carrier and service noted
In transit: [ ] stalled scans checked every 2 days
At delivery: [ ] delivered record saved as PDF the next day
After delivery: [ ] customer follow-up sent after a few days
How do you talk to the customer before cross-border chargebacks escalate?
Shopify says to contact the customer first in every category. For a US buyer, the message should be short, specific and easy to answer. Many cross-border disputes begin with a worried customer whose parcel is "stuck" at a border scan, and a clear message gives them a reason to wait or to ask their bank to withdraw.
| Moment | What the message says |
|---|---|
| Tracking stalls | Where the parcel last scanned, what you are doing, when you will update them |
| Dispute opens | You noticed it, ask what happened, offer a fix |
| Customer agrees | Thank them, ask them to tell the bank, ask for the bank's letter |
| Parcel arrives late | Confirm it arrived, ask them to withdraw |
Message 1: tracking has stalled
Hi [first name],
Your order #[number] left our warehouse in Canada on [date] and was last
scanned at [location] on [date]. I have asked [carrier] for an update and
will write again by [date]. If it has not arrived by then, I will send a
replacement or refund you, whichever you prefer.
[Name], [store]
Message 2: a dispute has opened
Hi [first name],
I see your bank has opened a dispute on order #[number]. I would like to
fix this directly. The tracking shows delivery on [date] at [address].
Could you tell me what happened? If it did not arrive, I will [replace or
refund] today. If you have received it, please let your bank know so they
can close the dispute.
[Name], [store]
If the customer agrees the charge is valid, Shopify suggests they ask their bank to drop it. A withdrawal letter should be on bank letterhead, show the case number and confirm the charge and the cancellation. A statement screenshot is not enough. Withdrawals can take 30 to 90 days, so do not wait for one to file.
What if a cross-border order looks like fraud?
Some disputes from abroad are real fraud, and some are customers who forgot an order. Shopify's list for fraudulent and unrecognized disputes covers when you fulfilled the order, the billing details, the IP address and its country, plus shipping and tracking. For a cross-border order, the country fields do much of the work.
| Check | Why it matters on a US order |
|---|---|
| IP country vs billing country | A mismatch is a flag, not proof |
| Billing vs shipping address | A gift or a reshipper can explain a difference |
| Prior orders from the customer | History helps if they are repeat buyers |
| Customer messages | Acknowledgment of the order |
Fraud triage for a cross-border order
IP address / country: ______
Billing country: ______
Shipping country and address: ______
Prior orders from this card: ______ (dates, any disputed?)
Contact with the customer: ______
Verdict: [ ] clearly legitimate [ ] unclear [ ] likely fraud
If the verdict is likely fraud, weigh the cost sheet before you fight. Fraud coded disputes are won less often (about 17% globally, per Datos Insights, and no Canadian figure was found). For the fuller picture, read our guide to fraudulent chargebacks on Shopify in Canada.
How do you review cross-border chargebacks each quarter?
A batch review turns scattered cases into a fix. Look at every cross-border chargeback from the last 90 days and sort them by cause.
| Cause | What the pattern says | Likely fix |
|---|---|---|
| Not received after long transit | Delivery estimates too short | Lengthen the stated range |
| Stalled tracking | Carrier handoff gaps | Choose a carrier with better tracking |
| Duties surprise | Wording unclear | Rewrite checkout text |
| Unrecognized charge | Merchant name unfamiliar | Make the descriptor clearer |
| Slow refund on return | Returns process too slow | Refund on tracked return scan |
Quarterly cross-border review
Cross-border disputes this quarter: ____
Not received: ____
Unrecognized / fraud: ____
Not as described / damaged: ____
Credit not processed: ____
Won / lost / refunded: ____ / ____ / ____
Total fees paid (payout currency): ____
Biggest cause: ______________
One change for next quarter: ______________
Pick one change and measure it next quarter; fewer cross-border chargebacks are the test. Shortening the time to a first customer message, or adding a duties sentence, often moves the numbers more than polishing evidence after the fact.
How does ChargeFix help with cross-border chargebacks?
ChargeFix works with Shopify Payments disputes, including cross-border chargebacks from Canadian stores. It does not need to know the border rules, because it works from your own records.
- Dispute fetched. ChargeFix fetches the chargeback when it opens.
- Order read. It reads the order, fulfillment, tracking number and addresses from your store.
- Evidence scored. Each item is checked and gaps get a fix, such as a missing delivery record or an address that does not match.
- Plain verdict. Worth fighting, improve the evidence first or weak evidence.
- Letter from facts. The response is drafted only from verified facts.
- You approve. Manual mode is the default. Auto mode, on Starter plans and above, is off until you turn it on and confirm. Its default rule is product not received with delivery confirmed, and everything else is saved as a draft.
You bring what only you have: carrier records for the full route, the checkout capture and customer messages. ChargeFix cannot fetch carrier records, and it cannot promise a win. It stores minimal data: case ID, amount, reason, status, dates and shop settings, not customer names, addresses, emails or letters. The free plan covers 2 filings a month, and every paid plan starts with a 14 day trial.
What does a dated plan for cross-border chargebacks look like?
This plan for cross-border disputes assumes the shortest window, 7 days.
| Day | What you do | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | Dispute opens. Note reason, amount, due date | Deadline written down |
| Day 1 | Pull carrier records and tracking history | Route is mapped |
| Day 2 | Cost the case in payout currency | Fight or refund decided |
| Day 3 | Contact the customer | Message sent and saved |
| Day 4 | Prepare files under 2 MB each | Files ready |
| Day 5 | Draft the response in Shopify's evidence order | Every claim has a file |
| Day 6 | File | Confirmation in admin |
| Day 7 | Spare day | Nothing left to do |
| Up to 75 days later | Card company decides | Record the result |
How do you tell if cross-border chargebacks are hurting your rate?
Disputes count toward your dispute rate even when you win. Visa's excessive threshold is 1.5% from April 2026 in the US, Canada, the EU and Asia Pacific, per chargeback.io. Shopify can enrol a store in a network dispute resolution program at 1.5% over 90 days, with a 10% reserve, and a store exits once it stays under 1.00% for 30 days.
Split your numbers by destination so cross-border chargebacks stand apart. If your US orders are a third of your sales but half of your disputes, you have a cross-border problem to fix.
Rate by destination (last 90 days)
Orders Disputes Rate
Canada (domestic) ______ ______ ____%
United States ______ ______ ____%
Other countries ______ ______ ____%
If US rate > domestic rate: look at delivery time, checkout wording,
duties handling and record gaps for US orders.
What is different about cross-border chargebacks in Canada?
Most dispute guides assume a US store selling in the US. For a Canadian store on Shopify Payments, a few points change.
| Topic | What applies in Canada | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Protect | US stores only | Do not rely on it |
| Managed Markets | Shopify's pages differ on protection for Canadian stores | Confirm in your admin |
| Fee currency | C$15 or US$15, matching your payouts | Work out each case in the currency you are paid in |
| Carrier records | Canada Post confirmation online 45 days | Save on arrival |
| Complaints | Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry | Raise a complaint with your processor first |
| Benchmarks | Mostly US or global | Compare yourself with your own history |
Complaints. Shopify Payments (Canada) acknowledges a complaint within 5 business days and gives a final written decision within 45 days. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada supervises the Code but is not a dispute resolution agency for individual cases.
Win rates. Published figures are US or global: US merchants win about 54% of fought representments (Mastercard and Datos Insights), and fraud coded disputes are won about 17% of the time (Datos Insights). We found no Canadian cross-border figure. Use your own history.
What are the 10 mistakes to avoid with cross-border chargebacks in Canada?
Each of these turns a manageable cross-border dispute into a loss.
- Assuming Shopify Protect applies to you. It is for US stores, and Shopify's pages differ on Managed Markets.
- Skipping delivery proof for US orders. The record is your case.
- Waiting for the dispute to find the tracking. Carrier pages can expire.
- Vague duties wording. A surprise charge at the door invites a dispute.
- No dated checkout capture. A link is not evidence.
- Costing in the wrong currency. Use your payout currency.
- Ignoring the customer. Contacting them first ends many disputes.
- Slow refunds on returns. Credit not processed follows.
- Oversized files. Shopify limits files to 2 MB each and 4 MB combined.
- Not splitting your numbers. Domestic and US rates tell different stories.
FAQs
What are cross-border chargebacks for a Canadian store?
They are ordinary card disputes on orders that cross the border, such as a Canadian store shipping to a US buyer. Shopify uses the same reasons, window and fee as for domestic disputes. What changes is the evidence, since delivery proof has to cover the whole route and checkout wording has to set expectations.
Does Shopify Protect cover my Canadian store?
Shopify Protect is for US stores. It covers only fraudulent and unrecognized reason codes on eligible orders, and Shopify says it does not constitute insurance. For a Canadian store, assume it does not apply unless you confirm eligibility in your own Shopify admin.
What does Managed Markets do about disputes?
Shopify's Canadian Managed Markets page says merchants are enrolled in Shopify Protect for eligible international orders, but the Help Center says protection is United States only. Because the pages differ, confirm in your admin which orders are handled and how protection applies to your Canadian store before relying on it.
How much does a cross-border dispute cost?
The fee is C$15 or US$15, depending on your payout currency. Shopify charges it when the dispute is filed and returns it only if you win. The real cost also includes the sale amount, shipping and the product, so run a cost sheet before you decide to fight.
What evidence do I need for a US order?
For product not received, Shopify wants proof of delivery along with fulfillment timing, billing details, shipping and tracking. For a cross-border order, keep carrier records for the whole route, a dated checkout capture showing delivery and duties wording, and customer messages. Files must be PDF, JPEG or PNG under 2 MB each.
Should I wait for the dispute to pull the tracking?
No. Save the delivery record the day it arrives. Canada Post says delivery confirmation is online for 45 days after delivery, and a dispute may arrive later than that. Check what your carrier's tracking page keeps for the final leg of a US delivery.
Can I extend the deadline on cross-border chargebacks?
No. Shopify's response window is 7 to 21 days with no extensions. After you respond, the card company decides, usually within 75 days, and the decision is final. Plan your evidence routine so the pack is nearly ready when the notice arrives.
How do I know if cross-border chargebacks hurt my rate?
Split your dispute rate by destination over the last 90 days. Disputes count toward your rate even when you win. If US orders produce a bigger share of disputes than of sales, look at delivery times, checkout wording and record gaps for those orders.
How does ChargeFix help?
ChargeFix fetches the dispute, reads your order, fulfillment and tracking data, scores the evidence and drafts the letter from verified facts. It cannot fetch carrier records for you, and it cannot promise a win. It stores minimal data and works with Shopify Payments disputes only.
Should I fight every cross-border chargeback?
No. Cost each case in your payout currency, count shipping and product as well as the sale and fee, and fight when your honest chance justifies the work. Refund quickly when the record shows a wrong address or a return already in transit.
